Born among over-sized avocados and coral trees on the former Transkei, South Africa, Franki also spent sections of her childhood in London and Honduras. Now she speaks a few languages (English and Spanish the best).

She holds an MFA in Cinematography from the American Film institute and a good chunk of time before in the camera department. Her work was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance; won the Grand Prix at Hollyshorts and screened at Tribeca and New Orleans to name a few. Her work was also awarded both Gold and Silver screen at the Cannes YDA awards. She is an American Society of Cinematographers heritage award nominee and was selected as 1 of 5 DPs in Film Independent's project Involve.

In her spare time, she dabbles in fermented vegetarian food and an occasional circus trick.
